5 out of 5 stars Most ridiculously great shoes ever.   November 12, 2008
Wow, these shoes are amazing. I bought them used like three years ago, and they are just about the only thing I have worn since then - much to the chagrin of a couple more fashionable friends. They are comfortable, durable, easy to get on and off...I have had to get them repaired a couple times, but I have put them through hell. Now the sole has worn slick and I'm in the market for a new pair. Exactly like the pair I just had.

Things Keen Newports can do surprisingly well (from personal experience):

* Wading through rivers and streams
* Hiking
* Skateboarding
* Rock Climbing (nice grippy toe)
* Motorcycle riding (again, the rubber toe is leaps and bounds better than most sandals for kicking gears)
* Well, a lot more I'm sure. The only thing they're not great at is jogging. But I bet you knew that already.

For a comfortable, durable, amphibious shoe that will get you through the jungles and the deserts, this is the one.

5 out of 5 stars Great Sandal, indeed!   October 4, 2008
The Keen Men's Newport Sandal is, without a doubt, the best shoe I have ever owned. My pair is well over four years old and still going strong. My local outdoor store has discontinued the line, and you cannot blame them: you buy a pair and never need to purchase another. I'm an active walker and would give you an estimate of the mileage except you would not believe me. I'm unnecessarily ordering a backup pair, as I'm afraid Keen may someday discontinue the line.

5 out of 5 stars Keen Newport Sandals   September 10, 2008
This is my second Keen product. I am very impressed with design and construction. Very comfortable. Waterproof - perfect for white water rafting, light hiking and just hanging out. Not as cool as open sandals but worth the price for more support and toe protection. Highly recommend.

One of the few shoe products you are obliged to love at first step (leave looks, ergonomics, practicality, etc etc aside for the moment - which I might add are also all A's) . I am now a Keens convert & fan.

5 out of 5 stars Shoes to love...   December 22, 2007

I've owned my Men's Keen Newports for over two years - three summers and now 3 days before Christmas in the third winter. Sadly I usually have to put them away for weeks at a time from January thru March, but even so I DO wear them off and on in the dead of winter. I am NOT easy on these either. I'm a pro photographer and very active in the outdoors of Washington and the Pacific Northwest. they see more than their share of salt water while kayaking and boating and climbing up and down rough terrain to "get the shot." Admittedly, when I'm not 'out there' my studio is next to my house so I wear them like slippers to "commute" across the garden and into the studio. They still look pretty good too, though I think I'll be due for an additional pair this coming summer, though I see no reason to not continue to wear these for saltwater use.

One thing I should mention though is if you wear them barefoot continually, you will need to give them a soapy soak periodically because they will begin to stink ( documented by several of my friends also). But I'll wear them with socks when it gets chilly (but not when it rains) during the fall and winter and washing is unnecessary. I'll go for the Newports again.
